Minister Brian Keith Johnson was born in Atlantic City, NJ on January 30, 1968 to Bishop Wondell Johnson and Pastor Gloria Johnson. On Friday February 21, 2014 Minister Brian received an eternal call from the Master, and he went home to be with the Lord.
He was educated in the Atlantic City Public School System and attended the Atlantic County Vocational School (now known as Atlantic County Institute of Technology), Mays Landing NJ. He graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1987.
Minister Brian had a diverse record of employment. As an employee he served as a mail clerk for various casinos in Atlantic City, NJ, a security guard for Service Link of Pleasantville, NJ, sales representative for distinct local music retail stores, machine operator for Wheaton Plastic Factory of Mays Landing NJ, and final docs clerk at Superior Mortgage of Hammonton, NJ. As an entrepreneur he was the owner and operator of Booming Sound Company, Inc., BJ Vending Machines, and the music/voice instructor for Beginners Music Lessons.
Minister Johnson, was a childhood member of the Morning Star Holiness Church (along with his parents) of Atlantic City, NJ where his Grandfather the Late Bishop Leno Johnson was pastor. In 1977, the Lord directed his parents to embark upon a new horizon, establishing a ministry of their own in Atlantic City, NJ (later relocating to Pleasantville, NJ); it was there at the age of only nine years old that Brian Johnson would become a founding member of the Grace Tabernacle Pentecostal Fellowship Church.
With the title bestowed upon him as a PK (Pastors Kid), Minister Johnson began to serve in many capacities within his parents ministry; Church Drummer, Choir Director, Church Organist, Minister of Music, Founder & Engineer of the Radio Outreach Broadcast and Sound/Tape Ministry.
In 1995, Minister Brian Johnson founded and organized Victory and Praise, a community choir that expanded in a three year period to over fifty dedicated singers between the ages of ten and twenty one years of age, singing throughout the Tri-State area and the East Coast.
It was in May of 2002, that our dear Minister Brian Keith Johnson would answer the call of God and be licensed and ordained as an Associate Minister of the Grace Tabernacle Church by his father, The Honorable Bishop Wondell Johnson.
Minister Brian in his later years would continue to wear many hats within is home church serving as; Transportation Ministry Coordinator, Saturday Youth Ministry Advisor, Church Facilities Team Member, Finance Committee, Trustee Board, Director of the GTC Mens Ministry and most recently the Food Pantry Liaison for the Grace Community Family Life Center.
As a man of God and disciple of Christ, it was evident that our Lord had gifted Minister Brian with a special anointing to evangelize lost souls through music. For many years Minister Johnson extended his musical talents throughout the South Jersey area and beyond serving as a church organist for various denominations. His most recent assignment was serving as the organist for the Venice Park United Methodist Church of Atlantic City, NJ and the Bethel Evangelical Outreach Ministries of Pleasantville, NJ
Minister Brian fell in love after reuniting with a childhood friend and was joined in holy matrimony to his wife, Sarah Lynn Johnson, on March 07, 2009. From that union, an extended family was developed, and Minister Johnsons love expanded. It was incontestable that he lived by the quote Family is not an important thing its everything.
As a Family man Minister Brian cared deeply about his parents, grand parents, siblings, children, and grandchildren. He also had a special love for his cousins, aunts, and uncles. Through that love and compassion for family, Minister Brian became an active and faithful member within the Freeman/Minix Family Reunion and was later made an officer serving as Chaplain.
He is predeceased by his grandparents, the Late Bishop Leno Johnson & Mother Magdalene Johnson, Deacon William C. Harvey, Sr. & Mother Ella Mae Harvey, and his daughter, Jaleeyah Johnson.
He is survived by his wife Sarah Lynn Johnson of Galloway Township, NJ, one son Javonne Johnson of Dover, Delaware, three daughters, Tiffanie Johnson of Galloway, NJ, Ashley Johnson and Nantysha Johnson both of Pleasantville, NJ, his parents, Bishop Wondell Johnson & Pastor Gloria Johnson of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, in laws, Mr. Gerald and Ms. Phyllis Johnson both of Pleasantville, NJ, step grandmother, Mother Evelyn Johnson of Cherry Hill, NJ, two brothers, Minister Eric Johnson (Jenn) of Hackensack, NJ, Minister Kelvin Troy Johnson (Jennifer) of Absecon, NJ, one sister, Missionary Kerri Taylor (Robert) of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, seven grandchildren, a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, special brothers and sisters and close friends.
Minister Brian Johnson played an intricate part in the success of many professional and upcoming musicians by giving them opportunities to express their talents when many would not. Brian had a passion and love for all types of people regardless of race, color or religious beliefs. He was known for striking up a conversation with anyone at any given time. Throughout his life, he always had a special connection with young people; his youthful & humorous attitude was a magnet drawing positive attention by displaying Gods joy.
Brian would be best remembered as a man that Always remained calm even in the most difficult situations. He will continue to be admonished as an encourager, a mentor, a jokester, a big brother, a spiritual advisor, a father, and most of all, a true and sincere friend.
